The Fort Johnson community is invited to the Allen Memorial Library on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 5 PM for a fun activity dedicated to STEAM education.
STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics as access points to encourage inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking. Schedule of library STEAM events are:
11/14/2024 @ 5pm
STEAM: Catapults!
Ages: 6-12
Participants will be challenged to design a functional catapult from a variety of random objects.
Registration required for 25 participants.
12/12/2024 @ 5pm
STEAM: Candy Cane Building Challenge
Ages: 6-12
Participants will have their creativity and problem-solving skills tested as they face a number of challenges using candy canes as the primary building material.
Registration required for 20 participants
1/9/2025 @ 5pm
STEAM: Rock Candy
Ages: 5-12
Participants will learn about geology while crystalizing sugar to make rock candy.
Registration required for 12 participants.
2/13/2025 @ 5pm
STEAM: Snap Circuits
Ages: 8-17
Participants will learn about engineering and electronics while playing with Snap Circuit kits.
Registration required for 12 participants.
