In anticipation of LEGO Day on January 28th, the Allen Memorial Library is hosting a LEGOTHON, a free event of marathon LEGO building and a contest for LEGO themed prizes like bookmarks, activity sheets, and building sets. All library patrons, five years old and above, can build with LEGOs anytime at the library between January 7-14th (while supplies last), but must submit their LEGO builds for popular vote by COB on January 14th. See below for additional rules.
LEGOTHON Rules:
1) Participants must have an Allen Memorial Library account* and register in person or over the phone at (337) 531-2665 by January 13th to participate.
2) Participants can only submit LEGO builds which were created with library LEGOs* (while supplies last) and created in the library between January 7-14th, 2025. Participants may not submit LEGO builds created using a personal LEGO building set or on that has been built previously.
3) All LEGO builds must be smaller than 2’ L x 2’ W x 2’ H.
4) Three winners will be selected from among each age group: 5-11, 12-17, and 18+ through popular vote between January 15th-22nd. During which time, all library visitors can vote three times per age group on their favorite LEGO builds.
5) In the event of a tie, winners will be selected by library staff.
6) After voting ends, all LEGO builds will be displayed at the library until the end of January.
7) *Children, ages 5-11, can register using a parent’s library account and may build with LEGO DUPLOs instead of LEGOs, but all other rules still apply
